The individual versus the Crowd

I posted the following to the discussion post of Muriel Bailey in response to a post by Autumn Lombardi:

Any one who has read Ayn Rand's books understands how vital the individual is.  I agree with you, Autumn, concerning the "sanctity of the individual".  While the crowd does have advantages, we must never forget that the crowd is composed of individuals.  It is common for individuals to get "lost in the crowd".  Yet we see over and over again, that often it is one single singular idea, person, or event, that produces great progressive change.  What crowd informed and guided Martin Luther to write his 95 Theses?  Who was with Moses when he received the Ten Commandments?  My point is that often one person gets it just right or nearly so, and the "crowd" might only mess it up.
